Purpose

🎯 Project Purpose & Goals

Pickly is a community-driven platform designed to help users make smarter purchasing decisions by allowing them to add products, compare features, and share honest reviews. Users can register new products with images and details, explore a wide range of items, and contribute their opinions to build a reliable product database. Our goal is to make it easy for anyone to discover, compare, and choose the right product by providing intuitive category filtering, a seamless comparison interface, and a user-friendly experience that encourages active participation and sharing.

🔑 Key Differentiators

Pickly stands out by offering real user reviews, category-based A/B comparison features, and instant access to product comparisons—even without logging in. The platform integrates with external APIs like OpenAI, YouTube, Spotify, and Google Maps to automatically enrich product listings with related content and location data. With features such as review-based ranking, infinite scroll, and a smooth modal-based UI, Pickly delivers a dynamic and engaging experience. Security and reliability are reinforced through a custom backend, HTTP-only cookies, and CSRF protection. Our unique branding, custom animations, and carefully crafted UI set Pickly apart from typical product comparison sites.

I was responsible for developing the landing page, main page, and category page of Pickly. I designed and built the landing page to create a strong first impression and ensure brand consistency, while the main and category pages were developed with a focus on intuitive navigation and advanced filtering features for a seamless user experience. For backend integration, I utilized TanStack Query to efficiently manage data fetching, caching, and synchronization with the server, ensuring a responsive and reliable connection between the frontend and backend. Additionally, I implemented custom APIs specifically for handling cookie creation and parsing, as well as CSRF token generation and validation, to strengthen the platform’s security. I also paid special attention to SEO optimization throughout the project to improve search visibility and accessibility. My overall focus was on delivering a secure, user-friendly, and discoverable platform.
